ACO’s Windsor-Essex Branch is challenging as it encompasses a major city as well as scattered smaller towns and rural areas. As Chair of the Branch, Tammy Dewhirst has shown outstanding leadership in advocating for heritage preservation throughout the region.

Tammy has been instrumental in mounting campaigns to help save several threatened heritage structures in Essex county, including Windsor Arena. Over the past few years she has used ACO’s PreservationWorks! program to protect several important buildings in the county, including the project to save the Colchester Public School. Recently, she led a very well received county wide Jane’s Walk which highlighted diverse areas and buildings.

During the Covid pandemic, Tammy kept the branch active and has enhanced the branch website. She has always been responsive to any requests for help and information when provincial office has called. The Provincial Board is appreciative of her timely input about branch activities and reports, as well as her willingness to serve on Provincial committees.
