Bruce Chambers
Nominated for the James D. Strachan Award for Craft
Bruce Chambers specializes in heritage carpentry and fine woodworking. He works in architectural conservation, including on the restoration of designated heritage buildings, as well as repairing and reproducing antique fine furniture. Bruce also teaches woodworking at the Willowbank School of Restoration Arts where he is a favourite instructor among students for his patience, skill, and attention to detail. His workshop is located in Bond Head and includes a restored 1860 Orangeman’s Hall (his workshop), as well as the 1850 Middleton School S.S. No. 6 (future teaching space) which have been relocated to the property and meticulously restored by Bruce, his father David, and his son Kent. Bruce and his late father also headed the restoration effort on Bradford West Gwillimbury local treasure the Auld Kirk.
