Black Cardinal Contracting

Nominee for the James D. Strachan Award for Craft

Adam Lang is a leaded stained-glass craftsman and carpenter based in Brantford, Ontario. His company- Black Cardinal, specializes in the restoration and replication of historic doors and windows. The entry door restoration of the 1880’s bay and gable home in Cabbagetown, Toronto displayed both specialties. The original glass transom received a full releading and was modified to reflect its current house number. The doors were striped to bare wood and meticulously restored. Dutchman repairs were carefully executed, and mouldings were hand-carved to match the originals, preserving the character and craftsmanship of the historic home.
